The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has flagged off a voter registration awareness campaign at Charanci Market in Katsina State, urging youths and eligible citizens to seize the opportunity to register ahead of future elections.

The event, held on Sunday, September 28, 2025, drew several dignitaries, including Aminu Ishaq, Secretary of Charanci Local Government, who represented the chairman; a representative of Sarkin Shanu, Hakimin Charanci; and the Chairman of Charanci Market Association.

Speaking at the occasion, the NOA Director in Katsina State, Mukhtar Lawal Tsagyam, called on young Nigerians, particularly those turning 18, to embrace the online pre-registration process and complete it at Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) centres.

“The aim of this campaign is to encourage young people aged 18 and above to register online and finalize the process at INEC offices. However, it is mandatory that they have not registered before. Anyone found with multiple registrations risks losing all entries,” Tsagyam warned.

He stressed that only Nigerians who are 18 years and above, and who have never registered previously, are eligible for fresh registration.

Tsagyam also explained that those with challenges relating to their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) should approach INEC offices for corrections instead of attempting new registration. These include cases of lost or damaged cards, corrections in personal details, or relocation to a new polling unit.

Beyond voter registration, the NOA used the occasion to remind citizens of the importance of vigilance and security consciousness. Tsagyam urged members of the public to promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies rather than taking laws into their own hands.

He further appealed to Nigerians to appreciate and support the ongoing development projects in Katsina State and across the country, crediting the efforts of both Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda and the Federal Government under President Bola Tinubu.

The Charanci campaign forms part of NOA’s nationwide initiative to boost civic engagement and ensure increased participation in Nigeria’s democratic process.
